RIO HONDO – A man who authorities believe shot and killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself Thursday night may have spoken to his family about committing the crime a day prior, Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said.
As first reported by the San Benito News on Friday via sbnewspaper.com, officials with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department and Precinct 4 Cameron County Constable Robert Lopez’s Office confirmed that two bodies found in a home east of Rio Hondo are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
According to authorities with the constable’s office, law enforcement officials received a 911 call at approximately 9:41 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, from a man who said that he just shot and killed his girlfriend. Nothing else was said by the man in question, authorities said, as he terminated the call.
