Sunny Glen donations

‘Kids Working for Kids’

Sarah Boswell, Lauren Jaramillo and Whitney Purcell presented a monetary donation on May 24 to help the children served by the Sunny Glen Children’s Home. Also pictured are Ray Crowder, Director at Sunny Glen and Chester Arezmendi, principal at St. Anthony’s. They raised the money from the sale of para-cord bracelets and duct tape jewelry. They sold the jewelry to their friends at St. Anthony Catholic School in Harlingen. Their program was named “Kids Working for Kids.” Crowder said, “These young ladies exemplify the heart of what makes the Rio Grande Valley great. We are all proud of them.” (Courtesy photo)

Making a difference

Members of the Los Carnales/La Familia Motorcycle Club held a car, truck and bike show with entertainment on April 29 in Brownsville. The proceeds of this event went to Driscoll Children’s Hospital and the Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito. On June 2, members of the Los Carnales, a law enforcement members’ motorcycle club, came to the campus of the Sunny Glen Children’s Home to visit with the children and present a check for their care for $1,000. Members of the club said that, in their jobs, they see too many terrible things and were glad to make a difference in the lives of the children. (Courtesy photo)
