They came, they saw, they want her to conquer.
About 17 people with little to no connection to each other than a love for Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital gathered at the once proud facility’s dormant grounds on Thursday, a day after a maintenance crew for the City of San Benito cleared waist-high grass and even taller weeds.
There, they were greeted by Lionel Betancourt, an esteemed member of the San Benito Rotary Club who – in the past – was recognized with the prestigious Service Above Self citation for his work in founding the Adoption Awareness Picnic.
Now, as Betancourt stood before a small but enthusiastic group of community members, all of whom willing to help restore Dolly Vinsant’s appearance so that it can be attractive to potential buyers, one thing became clear: They’ve got a lot of work to do.
