Fifteen years ago, Cynthia Zartuche Manrrique was a single mom with three kids who – at that time – had only completed a few college hours.

That changed after she took a job as a secretary for the San Benito CISD Gifted and Talented program. Inspired by the educators she worked with, Cynthia, 47, set off on a journey to obtain a college degree.

Saturday, May 19, was the culmination of that journey as Cynthia received her master’s degree in educational technology. Now Cynthia is a multimedia teacher at Berta Cabaza Middle School and has inspired her three sons, Adrian, 17, Alfonso, 21, and Alex, 27, to follow in her footsteps.
