Former Fire Marshal Henry Lopez said Tuesday that City of San Benito officials’ handling of recent controversial incidents involving police officers and firefighters is helping him build a case against the city.
Lopez was indefinitely suspended in March for speaking to the media when not authorized and for allegedly displaying conduct “unbecoming” of his supervisors, Assistant City Manager Art Rodriguez and San Benito Fire Department Operations Chief Raul Zuniga. The San Benito Civil Service Commission decided in May to deny Lopez’s appeal and uphold the now ex-fire marshal’s suspension.
But Lopez’s criticism of city leaders continues.
