San Benito CISD officials confirmed Tuesday that the press box at the old Greyhound Stadium will be repaired after catching fire this weekend.
According to a report provided by Raul Zuniga, operations chief for the San Benito Fire Department, the authorities were called to the scene at approximately 5:39 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. There, firefighters found the press box fully engulfed in flames before extinguishing the fire.
Eight firefighters responded to the scene in a command unit, a fire engine, ladder and brush trucks. The fire department report states that the cause of the fire was due to “wires arcing in a damaged conduit that was up against the wall of the press box.”
