On Friday, March 23, four choirs from San Benito High School competed in the annual UIL Concert/Sight-reading competition held at the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) The Arts Center. The varsity women and the varsity mixed (the Greyhound Chorale) earned a superior rating on both Concert and Sight-reading, garnering the coveted “Sweepstakes” trophy. I’d also like to congratulate the choir because for the first time in the 100 year history of our city we had 3 students make it to the TEXAS ALL STATE CHOIR. I’d also like to congratulate all the students who competed for All State these kids have been outstanding. I wish them all the best of luck in college or where ever they go. As for the FINE ARTS AUDITORIUM we need to make sure we vote people in who will understand the need for an auditorium. This one building could bring in much needed money for our school district and Fine Arts programs. Just ask the Donna ISD who host many of our UIL events.

Congrats to the SBHS Choir for an outstanding performance. My husband and I are so proud of these students and especially of our grandson Adrian Ray Soliz. Yes, it is a shame that we do not have a Fine Arts Auditorium. There seems to be money for everything else but not an auditorium that we most definately need in this town. Let’s see if the city and school can work together and build a fine one.l

So proud of the SBHS choir!!! I am especially proud of my son Adrian who will be graduating this year. I have watched the choir program grow these past few years and SBCISD have very talented students..Good luck to all the Seniors; but it is a shame that our district does not have a Fine Arts Auditorium.
