Something more than just walking or running five miles will take place this Saturday.

That’s when participants of a 5K run/walk will take to the Heavin Resaca Trail in San Benito in support of a young girl fighting a terminal illness and to benefit Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

“Jamming Miles for Janet”, a fundraiser organized by fellow 2010 graduates of San Benito resident Janet Mata who is afflicted with a muscle disease called Dermatomyositis, will be accompanied by live music performed by local bands such as Madelyn Victoria singing the national anthem, Southern Train, San Benito Flamenco Cuarteto, Hindsight Bias, The Blue Barn Band, Ok Robot, Joe’s Untitled Band as well as And The Hero Prevails.

“We’re very appreciative and excited that we have such an energetic cohort of musicians that are willing to donate their time for such an important cause,” said Stacey Gonzalez, a classmate of Janet’s and one of the event organizers.
