Fiber Arts Competition and Exhibit
The Fiber Arts Competition and Exhibit will be held Jan. 26-Feb. 18 at the D’Arte Centre, 115 Jackson, Harlingen, featuring local artists. Valley Byliners Workshop

Vanity Fair 2012
San Benito High School will hold the annual Vanity Fair Coronation Ceremony and Dance on Saturday, Feb. 11. This year’s selected theme is “Hollywood.” Parents are welcomed to attend the Coronation Ceremony, which will be held at the San Benito High School Cafeteria from 7-8 p.m. The Student Council invites all San Benito High School and Veterans Memorial Academy students to the dance, which will follow the Coronation Ceremony. Stamp Show

Citrus Greening Disease
A program presented by Dr. Monte Nesbitt, Citrus Specialist at Texas A&M University in College Station will focus on Citrus Greening Disease. Noche de Ronda
The Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum will present their Sixth Annual Valentine’s Dance “Noche de Ronda,” featuring Noe Pro and The Band on Feb. 11 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the San Benito Knights of Columbus Hall, 826 E. Stenger St. For table reservations, call Rey Avila at (956) 245-1666. Proceeds raised will go to support the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Scholarship Fund.

Feb. 14
Free Weddings
Judge Elia Cornejo Lopez, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, offers to perform free wedding ceremonies on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The judge is waiving the normal fee of $150.00. This is the fifth year that Judge Cornejo Lopez provides this public service to the citizens of Cameron County. Ceremonies will take place between 9 a.m. and 12 noon in her courtroom, 404th Judicial District Court, located on the third floor of the Cameron County Courthouse, 974 E. Harrison St., Brownsville. Couples must pay for their marriage licenses, which can be provided by the Cameron County Clerk’s Office, second floor of the Administrative Building, no later than Feb. 10. Licenses must be issued 72 hours before the wedding day.

Texas Independence Day
Live re-enactment of the famous Battle of the Alamo with period vendors baking pan de campo and chili and vendors selling period items, the annual Texas Independence Day celebration will be held Saturday, March 10 in San Benito. Cameron County RGVDA Diabetes Event
The Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association will be hosting its Second Annual Diabetes Fundraiser on March 24, 2012. This year’s event name will be changed to the Cameron County RGVDA Diabetes Event – San Benito Event at the Heavin Resaca Trail. SBHS Class of 1997 15th Reunion
The San Benito High School Class of 1997 will hold their 15-year class reunion April 20-22, 2012 at South Padre Island. The first day will be Friday, April 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sunset Boat Cruise and 9 p.m. for a mixer at Louie’s Backyard. On Saturday, at La Copa Inn Ballroom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. there will be a dinner before a class picture scheduled at 7:30 p.m. and a dance from 8 p.m.-12 midnight.
