The San Benito City Commission on Tuesday will hear in closed session the ethics complaint filed against Mayor Joe H. Hernandez by local community advocate Alfonso Benavides.

Item #27 on the agenda for the Feb. 7 regular meeting reads that the commission will convene in executive session “to hear a complaint or charge against a public officer or employee.” The complaint in question details 10 charges against the mayor alleging violations of the Texas Local Government Code.

The executive session item also includes consultation with City Attorney Ricardo Morado “regarding legal advice on same matter.”

Let’s just see what this Commission and the City Attorney are REALLY made of! The complaint that was filed is VALID. It makes good sense. Let’s JUST SEE! Does it get swept under the rug, or do they DO THE RIGHT THING. There should be a third party, independent investigation WITHOUT the hinderance of the City Attorney or City Administration.
It also appears that there is a real problem at the Housing Authority with a conflict. I also keep hearing rumors of stolen equipment that is being hushed up??
