After a successful second place finish last weekend at the Weslaco girl’s powerlifting meet, the San Benito Lady ‘Hounds would not be satisfied with another second place finish as they fought for first against lifting rival Weslaco.
The Lady ’Hounds were at a secured second place going into the deadlift portion of the meet when team members Samantha Machuca and Jamie Rodriguez came in clutch for the San Benito. Machuca deadlifted 265 pounds, taking first in her division while Rodriguez deadlifted a personal best of 400 pounds and, by five points, also topped her division.
