IDEA mum on allegations

investigationOfficials with IDEA Public Schools continue to remain mum on accusations that they had not contacted the authorities when a student was allegedly beaten earlier this month.

The allegations in question stemmed from a Dec. 5 incident in which an eighth grade male student who attends IDEA Public Schools in San Benito accused five students of beating him inside the cafeteria restroom. The student’s mother, who spoke with the News Tuesday under anonymity, reported the matter on Dec. 12 to the San Benito Police Department (SBPD), where she said police informed her that they had never been notified of the alleged assault.

IDEA is trying to cover up the truth to this story. They know that this can severely taint their so-called \EXEMPLARY\ STATUS!. I for one would never send my daughter to that school, especially after this. Can anyone guess what IDEA is going to do to these 5 kids??? You got it! They will send them back to San Benito or Harlingen CISD!!! No wonder!!!

David, just because your daughter thinks that the boy agreed to fight based on what other students are saying, tells me that she saw as much as Juanita did by that being there. Its seem to me that you are just going on the opinions of other, than the evidence. So that puts you in the same jury as every body else.

  1. I don’t see why so many readers conclude that IDEA is covering up something when the evidence indicates that the boy agreed to a fight . All the students that have voiced their opinions agree that the boy agreed to fight and my daughter who attends IDEA also thinks, based upon what other students say , that the boy agreed to fight. Juanita say s that ” this was no school yard fight “. So how do you know Juanita ? Where you there ? I sure am glad to not have such people on a jury .deciding someone’s fate because a guilty verdict is guaranteed no matter what the evidence and innocent until proven guilty doesn’t apply.

Good for you San Benito News. I know this family and saw the boy after the incident – this was no school yard fight! I would like to see the medical reports and pictures of the other boys, oh – that’s right, they werent even hurt at all! I believe the school is doing a really good job of trying to cover this up because they do not want the public to know the truth. The truth, in my opinion, is that this group of boys that attacked this boy had been doing it for weeks to random kids – but everyone else they attacked were lucky that they were not seriously injured! I also believe that the two boys that the school is referring to in their statements are two boys that had a fight the WEEK BEFORE this child was attacked!!! NOT this boy – i think they are issuing that statement in hopes of downplaying this specific incident and trying to cover up the truth!!!

  2. Please notify the public when charges are filed against the five individuals that beat this individual to confirm the police report that was filed by the alleged victims mother. In addition, is it not a criminal offense to file a false police report?
