The San Benito Rotary Club’s New Member’s Orientation was held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the First Community Bank in San Benito, where Treasurer Lionel Betancourt spoke on his duties. Betancourt was featured in the October 2011 edition of the Rotarian, in which his efforts in founding and establishing the Adoption Awareness Picnic and his receiving of the 2009 Service Above Self award were recognized. He is shown with new member Rosie Muñoz, who received a Certificate of Membership, the Object of Rotary and a Copy of the Four Way Test as well as the book entitled “ABC’s of Rotary” and a Rotary membership pin. San Benito Rotary Club Orientation Chairman Bob Salmeron presented two videos entitled “This is Rotary” and “Hand in Hand” at Tuesday’s New Member’s Orientation. The videos explained the local Adoption Awareness Program, a major project in the district, the State of Texas and throughout the country. The Adoption Awareness picnic was created by fellow Rotarian, Treasurer Lionel Betancourt who has taken this project to many Rotary Clubs in the country and beyond.
