Veterans Day March and Ceremony

The March of Veterans begins at 11 a.m. when veterans and surviving family members are invited to march down Sam Houston Boulevard with a police escort to the new San Benito Veteran’s War Memorial site (Railroad tracks and Rowson Street) for a patriotic ceremony paying tribute to veterans. Diabetes Walk

A benefit fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association will host a San Benito Diabetes Walk at Heavin Resaca Trail. Individuals, families and organizations are invited to participate to raise funds for diabetes support and research. Last year 350 walkers participated and raised $6,000 for the Diabetes Association. Their goal this year is to raise $10,000 and have over 500 walkers. Event organizer is Ray Saldana. More information to be announced.

The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. seeks summer volunteers of all ages who want to turn donated hours into meals for seniors, children or working poor families. Students and adults are encouraged to sign up for summer hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some Saturday and evening hours available.
