RIO HONDO – Rio Hondo ISD officials hope several reassignments at high level positions will improve test scores, this after the district was rated Academically Acceptable for the 2010-2011 school year.
In response to an open records request, Rio Hondo ISD announced the following reassignments on Tuesday:
As per a transfer request, Rio Hondo Elementary School Principal Juan Montez will now act as administrator at the DAEP (Disciplinary Alternative Education Program); Gear-Up Instructional Facilitator Ricardo Ortiz will move to the elementary, DAEP Instructional Facilitator Dora Lee Muñoz is moving to Rio Hondo High School, Rio Hondo Junior High Instructional Facilitator Emilio Treviño, Jr. is also moving to the high school, Rio Hondo Intermediate Instructional Facilitator Bob Dawson has been reassigned to the junior high, Rio Hondo High School Instructional Facilitator Diana Tijerina is going to intermediate, and Rio Hondo Elementary Assistant Principal Guadalupe Garza will now serve as principal.
All reassignments have taken effect for the 2011-2012 school year; those transferred, with the exceptions of Garza and Montez, will serve the same positions.
Rio Hondo ISD Superintendent of Schools Anneliese McMinn said such moves are common and anticipates the transfers may spur improvements in a number of areas. “That’s what we’re hoping for,” she said.
Schools rated Acceptable in 2009-2010 were the high school and junior high while the intermediate and elementary campuses received a Recognized rating. All campuses were rated Acceptable in 2010-2011.
Rio Hondo ISD Board President Noemi Garza could not be reached for comment as of presstime.
