With the state of the economy looking remaining grim, hope may come in the form of a few new businesses set to open in the Resaca City.
Rodeo Dentistry, based out of Fort Worth, will be celebrating its grand opening in San Benito on Wednesday, July 13 at the former HEB, which now serves as a plaza. Also opening in the same plaza in the near future is Wingstop.
“I think it will be a big boost for the city. It is something that we have been waiting for, for quite some time,” said Mayor Joe H. Hernandez. “Of course, I thank HEB for creating the plaza there.”
Also looking to bring business to San Benito is Walgreens Pharmacy, which is estimated to open in early 2012.
“We’ve been working with the developers of Walgreens for some time,” Hernandez said. “They have already purchased the land there. It’s just a matter of time. We’re waiting for Human Resources to finish their building on Business 77. They’ll be moving out there, and once that is done the developing will start.”
“I know that Wingstop is a lot sooner because the building is all ready. For Walgreens, we are shooting for 2012,” continued Hernandez. “The area where it’s going to be developed, there are some buildings that need to be torn down. It will benefit the city more than anything else.”
