Oralia AlvarezPlainview – Oralia Alvarez, 73, of Plainview, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011, surrounded by her family at home. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Lockney Cemetery in Lockney. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lemons Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

Oralia Salas Alvarez was born on March 20, 1938 in Marlin, Texas to Jose Salas, Sr. and Elvira (Zavala) Salas. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, before being employed by the Plainview Independent School District. She became a member and volunteer for the Salvation Army and a member of Roca De Salvation Church in Plainview. Oralia was a wonderful friend to many and she enjoyed crocheting blankets.

Oralia joins her father, Jose Salas, Sr. and her brother; Jose Salas, Jr., who have predeceased her. Surviving relatives are her loving partner of 31 years, Manuel Machuca Jr., a son, Jerry W. Rodriquez and his wife, Eleanor, of Plainview a daughter, Joyce Aguirre, of San Benito; her mother, Elvira Salas, two sisters, Minnie Juarez of Plainview and Teddy Alvarez of Washington State, and one brother, Antonio Salas, of Michigan. Oralia has been blessed with nine grandchildren: Teresa, Jerry, Jr., Michael, Shari, Matthew, Lawrence, Priscilla, Samantha, and Myles. Oralia is double blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.
