SB football spring training pic2August is still a long way from now, but preparations for football season are already under way.

The San Benito Greyhounds began spring training earlier this month as they look toward the new season of 5A football. During spring training, the athletes get a chance to sharpen up their skills while increasing strength and conditioning. It also gives them a chance to shake off some rust as they’ve been in offseason since November.

The Greyhounds go through different stations that focus on important football techniques for both offense and defense.

We’re excited about what we see so far,” said Greyhound Head Coach Spencer Gantt.

The Greyhounds reached the playoffs this past season but were ousted by Harlingen High in the Bi-District. The Greyhounds ended the season with a record of (4-7). As the school year dwindles down the Greyhounds will be hard at work preparing to be victorious next season.

THIS is when championships are won…. it is determined by just how hard you work, by how committed you are when the sun is hot, when no fans are watching and the lights are off…. THIS is when you win championships… it begins with your heart. Go Hounds!!
