A Los Fresnos man is still behind bars for an alleged robbery of a country store in Lozano, Texas.
Mario Zurita, 32, is accused of aggravated robbery using a bb-gun. The incident occurred Monday, March 14 at approximately 8:20 p.m. According to a press release, the Precinct 4 Cameron County Constable’s Office received a call in reference to an aggravated robbery at Ortega’s Country Store located on Brown Tract Road.
“The robbery occurred when a male subject wearing a black bandana covering half his face entered the store with a rifle,” read a constable’s press release.
According to authorities, Zurita allegedly approached the cash register with the weapon and threw a paper bag at the cashier, demanding that he fill it with cash.
“(Zurita) then pointed the rifle at a customer that was standing by the counter area and told him to ‘back off,’” the release read. “The clerk placed the money ($180) from the register in the bag. The suspect grabbed the paper bag with the money and exited the store.”
