American Military SupportAmerican Military Support (AMS) is hoping to collect donations to send Easter care packages to troops fighting overseas from the Rio Grande Valley, but they need the help of San Benito News readers in order to make their quota.

AMS is a non-profit organization in which its mission is sending care packages to military men and women specifically from the Valley.

“We’re new to the Valley, we’re a year old,” said Emma Alvarado, Co-Founder of the Harlingen based organization. “What we’re focusing on is sending what we’re calling quality of life care packages to our Valley troops. Anytime we do an event or an interview with the radio or television, we’re specifically going to the public and asking them if their loved one is overseas and from the Valley, give us their name and address so they can go on our website, and we’ll put them on our mailing list to be sending them packages. Our goal is to be able to provide one package a month.”
