According to City of San Benito Code Enforcement Director John Rodriguez, a call came in at approximately 7:30 a.m. from a woman who reported seeing two javelinas in the city.

Citizens trying to help capture the javelinas instead caused the pair to scatter further into town, according to Rodriguez.

“We’re figuring that they came from the south side of town,” said Rodriguez. “It’s one of those odd things that just happened and we were able to take care of it in conjunction with Texas Parks and Wildlife.”

Eventually the javelinas split up, and one of the wild pigs was chased under the porch of a house located at the 400 block of South Bowie.

A standoff ensued between numerous cops and animal control and the lone javelina, unwilling to come out from under the porch of the residence.
