The San Benito High School Belles recently traveled to Corpus Christi to compete in the 2011 Marching Auxiliaries Competition, and they returned home champions.

“I’m really proud of the girls. They did really well,” said Kimberly Banda, the Belles drill team instructor. “I believe that they perform better under pressure, so I was really proud with what the outcome was.”

The competition was held on March 12 at Carroll High School. The Belles competed against 10 other schools and took home awards for “Best in Class”, “Best Technique”, and “Highest Point” award.

“There was a lot of competition, especially with the teams we performed against from the Corpus Christi area,” Banda said. “We performed against Miller, Carroll, and Edinburg High School was there as well. It was a lot of competition, and the girls did get intimidated at times, but they pulled through for us.”
