Rulings on two high-profiled Civil Service hearings concerning previously suspended officers with the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) were made this week.
Shortly after the San Benito News first reported Wednesday on sbnewspaper.com that one officer was reinstated from an indefinite suspension, another cop’s three-day suspension was upheld as “just.”
It was reported Wednesday morning that Guadalupe Andrade, the San Benito police officer placed on indefinite suspension last June allegedly for “conduct unbecoming an officer,” has been reinstated.
According to City of San Benito Human Resources Director Arturo Rodriguez, Andrade will receive $8,000 backpay while her indefinite suspension – handed down by Chief George Gomez – has been reduced to two days discipline without pay, this after her attorney, Francisco Zabarte of Brownsville, ended negotiations with the attorney representing the city, Rick Navarro of Denton, Navarro, Rocha & Bernal P.C. Andrade had initially asked for approximately $28,000 in backpay.
