The Heavin Resaca Trail brings a bit of nature into the city of San Benito. There, birds gather, turtles surface, and fish swim in harmony with those who come to the trail. It is here that 27-year-old Valerie Armas comes to run.
“It’s nice,” Armas said. “I like to run here. It’s not boring. I really like the view. My sister-in-law and I used to run at the industrial (park), but it’s really boring over there. There are lots of people here and a good view. I like it better.”
Armas works as an office receptionist at a rehab clinic. Lately her schedule has not allowed her the time she would prefer to run. Now that her schedule has changed again, she has been able to make time for her daily routine.
“I used to come here every day (but) I am starting back up today,” she said smiling on Monday afternoon.
Armas has been with her husband, Armando, for 12 years.
