A 16-year-old girl was attacked by another teenage female at the Heavin Resaca Trail on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by Lieutenant Martin Morales, Jr. of the San Benito Police Department (SBPD).

The 16-year-old girl was walking along the trail near Fannin Street when the 15-year-old suspect allegedly approached her and began assaulting her, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

The lieutenant reported that the suspect allegedly began punching the 16-year-old to her face, throat, and chest area. As the suspect was assaulting the victim, she managed to take possession of the victim’s cellular phone and iPod before fleeing from the scene, Morales further reported.
