EDINBURG – The San Benito Greyhound basketball team lost a pair of games midway through the Edinburg tournament this weekend then finished with a win over Sharyland in the consolation finals.
The team had advanced to a game with the host school to take on Edinburg, hanging in early with a team that was loaded with players with postseason experience.
Trailing by 16-10 after a quarter of play the ’Hounds found that another game in which the shooting percentages were down was not a good combination for a comeback. Edinburg increased the lead to double digits in the second quarter and led 32-20 at the break. Each team scored 10 in the third quarter before the Bobcats put the game out of reach with a huge fourth quarter.
