At Conjunto Fest 2011
Over 3,000 people attended this weekend’s 20th Annual Narciso Martinez Conjunto Festival, which was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21-23. The event featured conjuntos such as Gilberto Perez, Chano Cadena, Los Angeles del Sur and Eva Ybarra, among others. Also, the San Benito News raffled two acoustic guitars – donated by Hermes Music – at the show. The proceeds from the raffle were donated to the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center. Getting ‘Country-Fide’
Madelyn Victoria Vallejo, performing simply as Madelyn Victoria, was at Suarez Ranch Saturday in San Benito off of FM 800 to shoot her video for “Country-Fide” – a cut off of her debut self-titled EP. Fire Prevention Week at Head Start
Firefighters of the San Benito Fire Department are shown at the San Benito Head Start Friday morning as part of Fire Prevention Week festivities. Head Start kids are shown handling a fire hose thanks to the assistance of firefighter Josh Espinosa. Also, firefighters are wearing pink uniform t-shirts in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The shirts were sold to the public in which the proceeds benefited cancer research.
