‘Tis the season for squaring away outstanding warrants with the City of San Benito.
That’s right. The San Benito Municipal Court has become vigilant in seeking recompense for outstanding citations and delinquent fees associated with warrants of arrest. There is now, through the city’s website, www.cityofsanbenito/com, a list containing the names of persons who presently have unpaid warrants.
This information has been made available to the general public on the municipal court webpage. Furthermore, the municipal court will be utilizing the technology of social media to collect some of the monies owed to San Benito, according to a press release.
Assistant City Manager Art Rodriguez said on Monday, “We’ve been working to [compile a list of] all these failures to appear to [provide] everybody the opportunity to go see if their name appears.”
This list will be updated every month in an attempt to keep the information as current as possible.
Those with outstanding arrest warrants are encouraged to contact the San Benito Municipal Court in order to pay their bill and become in good standing with the city. Rodriguez urges citizens, “If you have something you were cited for, take care of it…avoid added costs and embarrassment.” He noted that other nearby cities have a similar procedure in effect.
Additionally, this will avoid the inconvenience of being arrested by a peace officer at the violator’s personal residence or place of employment. Rodriguez said, “If someone [simply] forgot about their traffic offense, it will be too late [to pay the fine] once they get stopped for another (traffic, etc.) offense.”
Anyone with an outstanding warrant can pay their fines online by utilizing the link provided on the municipal court website and listed below. Officers with the San Benito Police Department would like to remind the community: “If you don’t want to see your name online, pay the fine.”
The websites are as follows: http://www.cityofsanbenito.com/courtAdministration.php and http://www.cityofsanbenito.com/pdfs/court/San%20Benito%20Warrant%20Listing.pdf.
