Blanca J. “Janie” Gonzalez will take her formal Level III grievance to the penultimate Level IV on Tuesday, October 9, after a recently publicized decision by San Benito CISD Planner/Evaluator Ruben Franco yielded a dismissal of all Gonzalez’s claims, arguments and requests.
SBCISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón delegated what would have otherwise been his responsibility to make a decision regarding Gonzalez’s fate to Franco, who reached his decision on September 21. Franco’s six-page response included the statement, “I am denying all the relief requested by you with the exception of your request to begin this grievance at Level III.”
Additionally, Franco said, “I find that neither the superintendent nor his designee [have] the authority to grant your requested remedies of compensatory damages, attorney’s fees or a name-clearing hearing.”
