The investigation into a fatal hit-and-run has yet to equal any new leads, San Benito police said.

Ruben Saldaña, 51, died Saturday evening from injuries sustained in the hit-and-run. According to Rogelio Banda, Jr. of the San Benito Police Department, Saldaña was hit by a car near the corner of S. Frontage Road and Hidalgo Street in San Benito at approximately 9 p.m. August 2. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene.

Saldaña was rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, where he was reportedly treated for head injuries and had fallen into a coma. Michael Swartz, director of communications for Valley Baptist, confirmed Tuesday that Saldaña succumbed to his injuries two nights later.
