investigationAuthorities investigating a fatal hit-and-run in San Benito said Tuesday that all “angles” would be explored due to “questionable” circumstances.

It was Thursday evening when Ruben Saldaña, 51, was hit by a car at the corner of S. Frontage Rd. and Hidalgo St. in San Benito. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene, and, at approximately 9 p.m., police received a call from a witness who informed them that Saldaña appeared unconscious. The victim suffered multiple injuries to his head, police said.

Saldaña was then rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen following the incident and fell into a coma, said Michael Galvan, assistant operations chief for the San Benito Police Department.
