Separate accidents that occurred during the New Year’s holiday has left two men in a coma and a horse killed.

On Dec. 31 at approximately 6:06 p.m., a woman and her four children were driving northbound on FM 732 in a white Dodge Caravan. According to police reports, the Dodge Caravan slowed down on the two-lane road in order to make a left turn onto a private driveway. It is at that point in which a man driving a white Ford Ranger tried to pass the Caravan, but instead clipped the front left corner causing the Ranger to lose control and rollover, coming to rest upside down. The passenger of the Ranger was ejected from the vehicle and had to be airlifted to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he is in a medically induced coma and listed in critical condition.

The woman and her four children did not sustain major injuries. The driver of the Ranger was taken by ambulance to Valley Baptist Medical Center but was released the following day. He was also cited for multiple violations, according to police.
