JD PennyBusiness, finances, and unity – these were among the issues newly–elected San Benito City Commissioners JD Penny, Place 3, and Joe D. Gonzalez, Pl. 4 listed Tuesday when discussing their first orders of business.

Penny and Gonzalez were sworn in Tuesday by Justice of the Peace David Garza during a special meeting of the City Commission and following the official canvassing of votes.

Gonzalez, a former superintendent for the Donna and San Benito school districts and current professional educator consultant for Region 13 defeated challenger Gavino Sotelo by a landslide, 1,023 to 624.
