Working to be the best in K-1, William Howard McNutt of San Benito is looking to get stronger for future Scholastic Chess Tournaments.
During his first year of playing chess, William, 7, has a record of 28-1 in local Scholastic Chess Tournaments and credits his grandfather, Wilfredo Caballero and father Howard Lee McNutt for learning and enjoying the game of chess.
William has placed first at the Paredes Elementary “Fall Chess Scholars,” sixth at the Garza Elementary “Checkmate Chess Tournament,” first at the Corpus Christi “South Texas Tournament of Champions,” first at the Stell Middle School “March Madness Chess Tournament,” second at the Martin Elementary “Chess Tournament,” and just recently first at the John F. Kennedy Elementary “Battle of the Minds Chess Tournament.”
