The IDEA 5K walk/run, which took place Saturday, helped the campus raise funds for their students, and in turn organize a better learning environment for their college field lessons.
The event gathered approximately $3,000, and had more than 160 registered participants. However, due to the weather conditions, about 50 registered participants attended. “We thought that it was a good turnout,” said Stephanie Lerma. “Even though there was a drizzle, people still showed up.”
The participants aged from five to 65, and many students from the campus showed up in support. The overall winner of the 5K event was eighth grader JT Torres from IDEA San Benito with a time of 22:15. “We were happy to see the support we had from our very own students,” said Stephanie.
