The San Benito Greyhound varsity basketball team had some trouble as they tried to take full control of Friday night’s game at home against the Pace Vikings.
From the start, the Greyhounds won possession from the tip off, but the Vikings went ahead and put the first points on the board. However, as quick as the possible doubt may have come, the Greyhounds dropped it with a three-point shot that would make Pace miss their 15 seconds of confidence and trail 3-2.
San Benito then went on to score some baskets to increase the lead to 18-9 at the end of the first period. The Vikings were unable to get double digits until around six minutes before the half, when the score was 21-11. The ’Hounds reached a 20-point lead, but Pace managed to scrounge up some points to make the half a 10-point game at 34-24.
