Residents from the Fun ‘N Sun RV Resort in San Benito, Park Place from Harlingen and Winter Haven from Brownsville are participating in practices and games at the Stookey Park ball fields.
The goal is to make San Benito the home of a winter senior softball league, said Chairman Zeke Luna of the City of San Benito Parks and Recreation Board.
McAllen and Weslaco presently have senior softball leagues, which makes for a long drive for local teams. Games are played during the mornings, and serve as a local attraction for the city, according to Luna.
