WESLACO – The San Benito Lady ’Hounds powerlifting team competed in their first meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 7 at Weslaco High School.
Competing at 97 pounds, Alexandria Marmolejo overpowered her competition with a first place finish, totaling 555 pounds, with 215 pounds in squat, 120 in bench press, and 220 in the dead lift. Samantha Machuca placed second in the 105 pound weight class with a total weight of 585 pounds. In the 123 pound weight class, Illeana Lopez ousted her competition with a total weight of 760 pounds; she was also named the meet’s best lifter in her division.
