Special to the NEWS
This Thanksgiving, the San Benito Food Pantry plans to buzz with activity.
Volunteers are busily packing food and stacking boxes to meet with the demands of this holiday week. Specifically, the pantry is currently accepting donations for Thanksgiving week.
The office is filled with stacks of canned items, boxes of fruit, and bags of dried grains and beans. At the moment, more than 500 people are expected to visit the establishment this week with the goal to fill their own pantries and to be thankful for the charity provided by others.
“We have donations that are coming from different schools and organizations,” San Benito Food Pantry President Lidia Garcia said. “Most are from businesses and schools.”
