NJROTC CADET CIRILO DONATES 20 TURKEYS AND 160 CANNED FOOD ITEMS TO EARL GROH FROM THE SAN BENITO ELKS LODGE
Special to the NEWS
November turned out to be a very rewarding month for San Benito NJROTC cadets.
During this holiday period, the cadets wanted to accomplish something special for the San Benito community and did so by taking to the streets at Treasure Hills and other San Benito housing areas collecting canned food items.
They gave up afternoons and weekends to collect cans.
They also worked overtime at Walmart and its adjacent intersection collecting monetary donations.
The cadets were able to collect 4,000 cans of food items and enough money to purchase 152 turkeys.
They will be donating the turkeys and canned food items to the Communities in Schools programs at the Veterans Memorial Academy, San Benito High School, Gateway, and to the Elks Lodge and San Benito Food Pantry.
NJROTC credited the San Benito Walmart and all those who contributed.
“Thank you and Happy Holidays,” an NJROTC press release read.
