San Benito police said they cracked a big case on Tuesday after arresting five men in connection with the theft of over 20,000 pounds of scrap metal.
Lieutenant Martin Morales of the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) reported Tuesday the apprehension of Brownsville residents Rene Almieda Lopez, 43, Jose Gonzalez, Jr., 24, Mario Salazar, 34, Juan Campus Aguilar, 30, and Adrian Garza (a.k.a. Pelos) 38. Lopez and Gonzalez were arrested Saturday, Sept. 17 and Salazar, Aguilar and Garza were picked up Tuesday, Sept. 20.
