PHARR – The Los Fresnos hard-hitting Falcons stepped onto the field on a warm and breezy Friday evening with a mentality of winning, and so they did against the PSJA Bears.
In a thrilling 25-11 victory, the Los Fresnos Falcons left fans breathless once it finally came time to wrap up the fourth quarter.
Effortlessly dodging and evading PSJA’s defense, running backs Eduardo Ramirez, with 145 rushing yards, and Cris Galagarza, 204 yards rushing, racked up a total of 348 yards together. It was through the Falcons’ consistency and smart game play, not to mention this new double running back attack, that proved to work to their advantage.
Despite two interceptions that came in the second and third quarter, the Falcons were still able to come back if not stronger and harder.
By the third quarter, things really started to heat up for both teams. But Ramirez bumped up the score with an 81-yard dash to the endzone.
Following suit, not too long after, was Galagarza, breaking away with a 60-yard dash to the endzone on the Falcons’ second down.
Head Coach Clint Finley couldn’t be more pleased with the win. “I’m very happy with the way they played. They played hard and they played smart. It was just like everything we’ve been going over in our character lessons,” Finley said.
He added that the team needed better communication and to get their head in the game.
The Falcons will face off with McAllen Nikki Rowe come Friday, Sept. 9 at home.
