BROWNSVILLE – A San Benito woman was arrested Wednesday following a one-vehicle accident that sent two local men to the hospital, according to reports.
The woman, 21-year-old Cristina Veronica Torres of San Benito, was charged with two counts of intoxication assault. She was arraigned Wednesday and her bail was set at $50,000. As of presstime Friday Torres was not listed as an inmate at the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.

It’s been reported that the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13 on the 700 block of Jose Colunga in Brownsville, where two San Benito men, one 22 and the other 25, sustained unspecified injuries as a result of the accident. The nature of the accident as well as the make and model of the vehicles involved have, as of yet, not been disclosed.
However, Brownsville police officers reported smelling alcohol on the suspect’s breath. She was transported to a local hospital where she was tested, reports read.
