U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers made a seizure on Sunday, June 12 at the Los Indios International Bridge after officers discovered marijuana inside a vehicle.

CBP officers came into contact with a 24-year-old man driving a gray 1996 Hyundai Accent at the Los Indios International Bridge. The man was identified as a United States citizen who resides in Los Indios.

According to a CBP press release, after being referred for further inspection, CBP officers discovered a large package hidden inside the trunk of the Hyundai. The package allegedly contained 41.98 kilograms, (92.6 pounds) of marijuana, an estimated street value of approximately $92,600.

The Los Indios man was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.

“Our CBP officers’ work on the frontline was instrumental to the detection of this load of marijuana and the arrest of this alleged smuggler,” said Michael Freeman, Port Director of Brownsville. “I congratulate our officers for an outstanding job with this seizure and for their continued efforts in keeping drugs out of our country.”
