show lightsBorderland Calvary Church will be hosting an event with activities for the whole family to enjoy on Saturday, June 18 at Falligant Park in San Benito.

The event will feature a free movie, free food and drinks, and Christian music among other things.

“It’s a family movie night. Basically, all of San Benito is invited and whoever wants to attend,” said Pastor Greg Rangel of Borderland Calvary Church. “The whole event starts at 7 p.m., which includes Christian music, children’s music as well. We’re going to be giving out free food. Last month we gave out hot dogs, and I think we’ll be doing the same thing as well. We’re going to try to have some free raspas.”

This is the second year that the church has held it’s “Family Movie Night”, and the second this year after holding one last month at the amphitheater.

“It’s really just to encourage the community to come on out, and enjoy just a great time out at the park watching a movie. It’s all free,” said Rangel. “(The movie) is going to be ‘Standing Firm’. It’s basically about a man who does not have a great relationship with his son, but the relationship is strengthened when the wife dies. That’s really when they start bonding. It’s also a movie that promotes family relations. It is a Christian movie though.”

Rangel encourages all to attend the event and watch a film that the whole family can enjoy. Falligant Park is located on the 1400 block of Combes St. in San Benito, next to St. Theresa Catholic Church.
