LOS INDIOS, TX. – Today, we say farewell to longtime educator Angela Gerusa Leal who went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2011.
Angela attended Christian Fellowship Church and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She led a simple life after 46 years as an educator, gardening, traveling and spending time enjoying her family. In October 2011, the San Benito CISD will honor Angela Gerusa Leal by naming a new elementary school after her.
Angela is preceded in death by her husband, Edio Leal and son Edio Leal Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Judge Joe E. and Rosa Gerusa; sisters, Beatriz (+ Eleno) Garza, and Helen Manganiello both of Weslaco, Texas.
Angela is survived by her daughters Sylvia (David) Silva of Harlingen, Cynthia (Arthur) Graybeal of San Antonio, TX, grandchildren; Lisa (John Thomas) Jones, Cecilia (Dion) Chavez and David (Heather) Silva all of Harlingen, and Arthur Graybeal Jr. and Denise (Carlos) Graybeal Pena of San Antonio, great-grandchildren; Melody, Hannah, Ariel, Elijah Jones, Celinda, Nathaniel Chavez and Paige and Aaron Silva of Harlingen, TX., Danielle Graybeal, Savannah and Seth Pena of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by her sisters; Bertha (+ Alfredo) Elizondo of Los Indios and Dora Mae (+Harley) Rienbold of Sun City, CA, brother; Rudy (Joan) Gerusa of Pacifica, CA, sister-in-laws; Lydia (Celestino) De Los Santos, Armila (Paulo) Arizmendi, Amelia (Ricardo) Rodriguez, Olga (+Ruben) Cantu, Alice (+Larry) Mares, Irma (Frank) Resendez, Norma (Juan) Loya, Frances (+Carlos) Leal, Ruby (+Alfredo) Leal and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Thomas Jones, Dion Chavez, David Silva Jr, Arthur Graybeal Jr, Elijah Jones, Joe John Elizondo, Alfredo (Freddie) Elizondo Jr.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Trinity Funeral Home.
A celebration service will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 10 AM at Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Barry Jackson presiding.
Burial will follow to Weaver Cemetery in Los Indios, TX.
Funeral services are under the direction of Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home.

Mrs. Angela Leal was a great lady! I will always be grateful for the words of wisdom she taught me as a new teacher at Los Indios Elementary. I know she is in the kingdom of God now and watching over her family and friends. May God bless your family through this time of sorrow.
