Restaurant manager apparent suicide victim

San Benito police are currently investigating an apparent suicide that occurred at a local hotel on Sunday.
Lieutenant Martin Morales of the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) reported that the body of 39-year-old Harlingen resident Steven Mark Eriksmoen was found inside room #123 of the Super 8 Motel in San Benito, located on 2340 W. Expressway 83, at approximately 12:55 p.m. Sunday, May 15. Morales said police were called to the scene by Eriksmoen’s wife, who according to authorities had been receiving texts that morning from her husband claiming that he planned to kill himself.
“He told her where he was at; she went over there looking for him and found out he had rented a room,” Morales said, further reporting that the last text the wife received was from Eriksmoen, which allegedly read “Done,” and was sent at 12:46 p.m. This left a nine-minute window between the time the last correspondence was made between Eriksmoen and his wife and when his body was discovered.
