A San Benito teen is in intensive care after being stabbed late Thursday night.
According to the San Benito Police Department (SBPD), five individuals rented a room at the Americas Best Value Inn which is located on the 2500 block of W. Business 77.
“These five kids, all between the ages of 19 and 21, they rented there (Thursday) night,” said Lieutenant Martin Morales.
Morales said that there were three girls and two boys in the room, including the victim, 21-year-old Michael Valdez.
“Valdez was asleep on the bed while one of the boys and one of the girls were in the restroom, and they were arguing,” said Morales. “One of the girls stepped outside of the room, and from her cell she made a phone call to three guys who are now suspects.”
Eighteen-year-old Gerardo Gallardo, 19-year-old Raul Martinez, Jr., and 20-year-old Jose Lazaro Ramos allegedly showed up to the room. Upon arriving, they heard a male and a female arguing in the restroom, according to police. Believing that the boy was assaulting the female, they allegedly confronted the male subject.
