Embattled San Benito Police Captain Arnold Garcia was indefinitely suspended without pay on Thursday due to “unauthorized police activity,” according to a San Benito News sources.
Garcia was specifically accused of a Civil Service violation, in which he has 10 days to appeal. Indefinite suspension in Civil Service terms also translates to termination. The “unauthorized political activity” cited by trusted News sources were reportedly as a result of Garcia allegedly discussing political candidates with a sitting public official and doing so in uniform.
When asked to confirm as much, Arturo Rodriguez, Civil Service Director for the City of San Benito, said he could not comment due to the issue being a personnel and a disciplinary matter.
