A California-man was brought down by rubber-bullets this past Thursday night after allegedly threatening police officers with a kitchen knife.
According to a press release issued by the San Benito Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 1000 block of Wick Street just after 10:00 p.m. where 48-year old Thomas Randolph Taylor was located inside a residence wielding a knife in an “aggressive manner.”
After several commands to drop the weapon, Taylor refused, at which point it took two .40 millimeter less-than-lethal impact rounds to bring him down.

@ Jovette:
I commend the SBPD for using non-lethal force when lethal force MAY have been justified (I wasn’t there).
Why are you so anxious Jovette to learn of someone being shot? If it had been your family member, would you prefer lead over rubber? I once listened to a police officer involved in a shooting using lethal force. He said, “I think about it everyday. It is like a grey cloud that I wake up with and go to bed with. It is like a part of me is missing.” The officers were all exonerated. My point Jovette, I think the vast majority of people do not want to use lethal force even if it is justified. GOOD JOB SBPD! One more thing Jovette…you shoot to STOP and not to KILL.
The should have used the SPOCK SHOULDER HOLD to subdue him.
What’s up with rubber bullets if the cops shoot some shoot to kill not hurt. If San Benito police need real bullets I’m sure local citizens can donate some ..
